The Macaws will learn this week....
Below is what the students will be learning in the following subject areas; reading, writing, word study (phonics), and math throughout the week and month!
During Reading Workshop the students.....
1. Review our 'Reading Super Powers' when reading a book.
*Reading Powers: Pointer Power, Reread Power, Partner Power, Picture Power, Snap Word Power, Sound Power, Persistence Power
2. Remember that Super Readers do not give up!
3. Readers use VOICES to bring books to life!
4. Readers READ PUNCTUATION when reading.
During Writing Workshop the students....
1. Continue to write a TRUE NARRATIVE story.
2. Remember to use EDITING CHECKLIST when finished writing.
3. Stretch the sounds in words and match letters to the sounds they hear.
4. How and Why using punctuation (periods) when writing.
5. Story Beginnings
During Word Study (Phonics) the students...
*Snap words introduced in 2019.... me, a, the, I, like, my, look, at, see, here, is, this, it, in, an, and
1. We begin Unit 3 this week: We have 'Word - Part Power'!
2. Continue to practice and understand that words are written from left to right across a page.
3. Continue to practice and understand that words are separated by spaces.
4. NEW SNAP WORDS introduced this week: can, to, do, we, be, me
During Math this students...
1. Continue to work on Module 3 - Comparison of Length, Weight, Capacity, and Numbers 1-10
2. Solving addition number sentences (sums less than 20)
3. Counting aloud 1-120
4. Number writing 1-30
